What It is

How it’s done

Electropolishing  is the removal of metal from the surface of a part by immersing the part in an electrolyte and applying a positive charge to the part. Because the process differentially removes high spots and iron (in the case of Stainless Steel) it leaves a smooth, passive surface which has been bathed in Oxygen

The part to be electropolished is placed on a fixture and immersed in a temperature controlled solution. A positive charge is applied using a direct current power supply. Metal is dissolved from the surface. A typical electrolyte is a mixture of inorganic and/or organic acids. We can provide the chemistry and equipment for any electropolishing project
